Gleðilig Jól og Gott Nýggjár! May All Your Dreams Come True

Mazuhn December 24, 2017

Life’s moving forward and another year comes to an end, unswerving, unstoppable, sceptered, just like winter waves in our bay, as seen from our living room window. Tick-tock, life time running. My Faroe Islands says: Gleðilig jól og gott nýggjár! Take care, and may all your dreams come true …

The Shortest Nólsoy Hike Ever

Mazuhn December 6, 2017

Actually, we had intended to go on a hike (lighthouse Borðan direction), but winter weather spoiled our plans, like already the very first hillside outside the village being completely covered with ice. Time to turn around and realize: Better safe than sorry. There’s always tomorrow …

A Glorious Winter Day at Eiði Beach

Mazuhn November 19, 2017

Driving through the narrow village roads of Eiði, passing the lake Niðara Vatn, arriving at Mølin and getting out of the car close to the former soccer ground that by now serves as a campsite. No cocktail glass sunburn all inclusive palm-lined beach down here, but a perfect North Atlantic from boulder to boulder bouncing course in the north of Eysturoy …

Viðarlundin í Kunoy: A Walk Through a Faroese Wood

Mazuhn November 9, 2017

Trees in the Faroe Islands: Rare, but they do exist. In the late 1800s, groves were planted in some places, the Viðarlundin í Kunoy in 1914. Large variety of trees, located above the village. Ashes, spruces, birches, with Eggjarsteinur, a giant rock, at the center. Picnic table, trails and bubbling brook …

Abandon Ship! The 1707 New Year's Eve Drama of Lambavík

Mazuhn October 24, 2017

A walk in Lamba, lost in thought. On New Year’s Eve 1707, the Danish ship Norske Løve sank close to the village, after having been blown off course on its way to India. Just a few steps from here, the Norske Løve was driven onto Eysturoy's rocky shore and relentlessly dashed to pieces …

Ingi Sørensen: An Aquanaut Rising from Another World

Mazuhn October 4, 2017

Science fiction setting. An aquanaut rising from another world, enveloped in odd-looking cloud formations, strange colors and surreal light. That day, commercial diver and photographer Ingi Sørensen is just about to return from another Tjørnuvík dive. Submerged? Ingi: „A magnificent and peaceful place” …

Catching the North Pole Train from Viðareiði

Mazuhn September 23, 2017

An intense moment of happiness in Viðareiði. Standing on the northernmost island Viðoy, frolicking around the waterside with a friend, watching the waves come in, Svínoy and Fugloy within sight. Bright day, sunshine illuminating kelly-green algae, seawater-filled puddles and weirdly shaped rocks. On top of the world. Faroes. So much in love, still …

Anja Mazuhn, journalist, writer. German philology, political science and theater studies (Freie Universität Berlin). Axel Springer School of Journalism.

Having worked as a journalist for more than 20 years (i.a. DIE WELT), Anja wrote reports, travelogues and did interviews with the celebrities of Hollywood.

Together with her husband, she deeply fell in love with the Faroe Islands, and they bought a house on Eysturoy more than seven years ago – Anja’s second home. Urge to explore. In love with adventures, both on the large and small scale.

Our wool project! Jackets, hoodies …

Jacket.jpeg

Together with some island farmer friends, we have set up a project, the Nordic Wool Factory. Beautiful things made of Faroese sheep’s wool and made for eternity. Jackets, hoodies, blankets, bags and such like.

Faroese sheep’s wool: a precious, renewable, sustainable and natural product, living up to former glory. Check out the German or English version of our Nordic Wool Factory website.

Community, philosophy, resources, design, pictures, sheep, videos, web shop, story. It’s all there. And we ship worldwide.
