Cassiopeia, Greater Bear And Nighttime Pokémon Go

Mazuhn August 31, 2021

Today: Rushing of wind, water, words and thoughts. Sitting at my desk, with my eyes on my notebook keyboard, grassy slopes and high mountains in front of the window. It’s sunny, for the time being. Retrospection: Nights have been star-studded lately, I grasped at the opportunity and tried out my new night sky app …

Dripping Minutes, Towering Clouds And Nocturnal Creatures

Mazuhn July 16, 2020

The dripping minutes of a summer’s night. Dali’s melting clocks in the back of my mind, as I recall it. The watch hands attached to my wrist heading towards fusion while I kept on walking, leaving the village behind me, continuing another nightly stroll in silence …

Bright Summer Days And Summer Nights

Mazuhn June 20, 2019

Dinner at around midnight, friends coming over, the time of day doesn’t matter, there is light, anyway. Midsummer ahead of us, as I look out of the window late in the evening, I spot a hare next to our house. Slowly, I try to grab my camera, the hare stays, but in a position of attention. Picture, beach, fishing, working on my fish filleting skills …

Gleðilig Jól! Merry Christmas! May Your Heart Be Light

Mazuhn December 22, 2018

After the storm. Heavy rain, gusts of wind dashing against house walls, sea spray speeding across the surface of the water – passing into oblivion. Days flew past, Christmas cards arriving, Advent decoration, candle arches and tea lights in windows. King of holiday lights and everybody’s darling: our village Christmas tree …

The Magic Water Mirror Of Funningsfjørður

Mazuhn August 4, 2018

At about midnight. Back in the harbor of Funningsfjørður, coming in from a successful fishing trip. Engine switched off, boat silently sliding towards the berth. Hauntingly beautiful. Water surface as smooth as a mirror. Clouds, mountains, light posts, peaked roofs and boat hulls, all being reflected in the fjord …

Village In A Wooden Frame and The Experience Of Pitch-Dark

Mazuhn May 20, 2018

There is a place out there, on Eysturoy, that keeps reminding me of one night in particular, each time I pass by. Wooden field gate close to a striking mountain road, picturesquely framing the small village of Funningur, home fishing waters and rugged shoreline of the next island Kalsoy within sight. Right here, that night, I reentered the world of light …

The Late Light Show

Mazuhn August 24, 2017

Summer’s almost over, nights are dark again. Time to monitor skies in the evenings, since I don’t want to miss one single Late Light Show. In the course of this week, I was lucky enough to catch some Northern Lights flickering above our bay. Shortly after, I captured another scene …
