Our house wears a shiny new outfit – a grass roof

Mazuhn July 4, 2016

How did you spend your Monday afternoon? I have been watering the lawn, hose skywards, pointing at the crest. Now that the deed is done, I can share my excitement. Our house wears a shiny new outfit – a grass roof, perfectly matching the stunning 50-shades-of-green Faroese landscape. Driving around the islands, you will come across many sod roofs …

The return of the Vikings

Mazuhn January 13, 2016

Fasten your seat belt, hold on tight and join me in traveling through time. Whoosh! Bang! And touchdown, some 55 million years ago. Europe and Greenland have started to separate, exposing just what will become the Northeast Atlantic Ocean. Simultaneously, a vast number of violent volcanic eruptions take place. Lava flows, volcanic ash rains down …

Hospitality And A Hidden Treasure In Kvívík

Mazuhn December 11, 2015

This historic document presents one of the first men driving a car in the Faroe Islands ever. Sunneva Egholm Mikkelsen has preserved it. Now it’s laying on a table at her home in Kvívík. The picture shows her father. Faroese hospitality, history and an extraordinary private collection. Entering a beautiful Faroese home …

Funny Cottages, Wet Cookies And A Concert With Teitur

Mazuhn October 18, 2015

At present, my car looks as if I’d moved in. Not because I’m a messy person, but rather because I need to be one-hundred percent prepared. Gumboots. Ugg boots. Camera tripod. My new foldable camping chair, with armrests and cupholder. Rubber pants. Lined jacket. Iphone recharger cable. Buff headwear. Faroese sweater. Pocket knife …

Only The Brave Experience Adventures

Mazuhn August 17, 2015

Today, I talked to a former workmate. A few weeks ago he quit his job. He had started to work with a new company, and he didn’t agree to the terms of the daily work routine. He didn’t think about future prospects and his pension. He quit. Sometimes, you have to have the guts. Values like courage and bravery that lead us directly to the Vikings …

Anja Mazuhn, journalist, writer. German philology, political science and theater studies (Freie Universität Berlin). Axel Springer School of Journalism.

Having worked as a journalist for more than 20 years (i.a. DIE WELT), Anja wrote reports, travelogues and did interviews with the celebrities of Hollywood.

Together with her husband, she deeply fell in love with the Faroe Islands, and they bought a house on Eysturoy more than seven years ago – Anja’s second home. Urge to explore. In love with adventures, both on the large and small scale.

Our wool project! Jackets, hoodies …

Jacket.jpeg

Together with some island farmer friends, we have set up a project, the Nordic Wool Factory. Beautiful things made of Faroese sheep’s wool and made for eternity. Jackets, hoodies, blankets, bags and such like.

Faroese sheep’s wool: a precious, renewable, sustainable and natural product, living up to former glory. Check out the German or English version of our Nordic Wool Factory website.

Community, philosophy, resources, design, pictures, sheep, videos, web shop, story. It’s all there. And we ship worldwide.
