Wimmelpicture In The Faroese Style

Mazuhn August 11, 2020

A scene created to astonish the world, picture-perfect and typically Faroese. The small village of Tjørnuvík in the extreme North of the island Streymoy. Remote houses surrounded by high, verdurous mountains, meadows and a sandy beach. A spot popular among local divers and surfers (the few being around from time to time), shadowy quite often …

Thrill of Chill: The Mountain Bathtub Hideaway

Mazuhn April 22, 2018

A beautiful piece of private land up in the mountains, owned by a dear friend. My all-time favorite lake, bathtub hideaway and cold water retreat. That day: Wind tickling brown grassland while simultaneously drawing soft ripples on the surface of the water. Twittering birds every now and then. For the rest: absolute silence. Not a soul around …

Ingi Sørensen: An Aquanaut Rising from Another World

Mazuhn October 4, 2017

Science fiction setting. An aquanaut rising from another world, enveloped in odd-looking cloud formations, strange colors and surreal light. That day, commercial diver and photographer Ingi Sørensen is just about to return from another Tjørnuvík dive. Submerged? Ingi: „A magnificent and peaceful place” …

Within Reach: Famous Sea Stacks Risin & Kellingin

Mazuhn May 29, 2017

Once upon a time … an odd task force got to work. A giant and a witch. Mission: to drag and drop the Faroe Islands close to Iceland. An undertaking that turned out to be far more difficult than expected. Even though the giant and the witch reached the Faroe Islands’ north-westernmost mountain Eiðiskollur, they didn’t manage to put their heavy rope in place …

A Bath In The North Atlantic (Brrr!) And Unexpected Company

Mazuhn November 22, 2015

Summer, sunshine and a sandy beach. I head for a deck chair under palm trees, order a fruit cocktail, throw my arms up in the air and hop joyfully into the water. Pardon me. I’m all mixed up. Must be a consequence of the adrenalin rush. Let’s start again from scratch: A day in November at Tjørnuvík beach. My brain starts to talk comic-tongue. Splash. Ahh! Brrr …
