Mazuhn October 29, 2022

Today we are hosting, together with our friends Poul Johannes and Frida, who have enough space in their lovely home in Elduvík to easily give a lunch for 30 farmers and wool producers from Iceland. Ranvá’s Dream Cakes: From A Faroese Kitchen With Love

Mazuhn September 24, 2019

A heather color day, overcast sky and a spoonful of fog at lake Toftavatn. The autumnal setting of the gem, made of heather varieties and deep brown mounds. Not very far from the lake, in a Faroese kitchen, pretty much the same colors. The home of Ranvá’s Dream Cakes. Visiting Ranvá Knudsen, pedagogue and passionate baker …

My Rhubarb, Potato And Green Stuff Field

Mazuhn August 11, 2019

Good things need time. That’s what it looked like when I had started digging, a good while after the idea had popped up for the very first time. And so I started. A spadeful of earth, another and yet another, jumping onto the spade’s blade with both feet, cutting out big pieces of soil overgrown with grass …

Bright Summer Days And Summer Nights

Mazuhn June 20, 2019

Dinner at around midnight, friends coming over, the time of day doesn’t matter, there is light, anyway. Midsummer ahead of us, as I look out of the window late in the evening, I spot a hare next to our house. Slowly, I try to grab my camera, the hare stays, but in a position of attention. Picture, beach, fishing, working on my fish filleting skills …

Life In A Northern Village In The Month Of January

Mazuhn January 30, 2019

Rooftops, boat houses, church and weathervane covered with snow. A friend pops in, carrying a carton and something that looks like an oversized table tennis racket … Next: an invitation and a lost scarf (almost). Snow melting, more snow, sunshine and blue skies. Walking down to our old harbor. This feeling, when you know that it’s your footsteps …

Chalkboard Super Cozy: The Cafe Old School in Hvannasund

Mazuhn September 12, 2018

Two schoolboys, jeans, jackets, sneakers, sitting face to face, table by the window, rhythmically swinging their legs, eagerly playing around with their drinking straws. Room: walls and ceiling covered with wood paneling. Furnishing: lime green sofa corner, checked retro floor lamp, museum piece-like map of the world, large chalkboard …

The Next Big Thing In Fishing? Advanced Seabird Training

Mazuhn July 15, 2018

Sometimes it’s all a matter of perspective. For instance: leisure fishing. Boat, gear, weather, time of day, currents  – all perfect. The only thing that’s missing: fishhooks presenting reasonable-sized fish. Cod, haddock, common dab: No need to talk about the few beauties that ended up in our freezers, pans and ovens a few days ago. Still …

Anja Mazuhn, journalist, writer. German philology, political science and theater studies (Freie Universität Berlin). Axel Springer School of Journalism.

Having worked as a journalist for more than 20 years (i.a. DIE WELT), Anja wrote reports, travelogues and did interviews with the celebrities of Hollywood.

Together with her husband, she deeply fell in love with the Faroe Islands, and they bought a house on Eysturoy more than seven years ago – Anja’s second home. Urge to explore. In love with adventures, both on the large and small scale.

Our wool project! Jackets, hoodies …

Jacket.jpeg

Together with some island farmer friends, we have set up a project, the Nordic Wool Factory. Beautiful things made of Faroese sheep’s wool and made for eternity. Jackets, hoodies, blankets, bags and such like.

Faroese sheep’s wool: a precious, renewable, sustainable and natural product, living up to former glory. Check out the German or English version of our Nordic Wool Factory website.

Community, philosophy, resources, design, pictures, sheep, videos, web shop, story. It’s all there. And we ship worldwide.
