Only The Brave Experience Adventures

Mazuhn August 17, 2015

Today, I talked to a former workmate. A few weeks ago he quit his job. He had started to work with a new company, and he didn’t agree to the terms of the daily work routine. He didn’t think about future prospects and his pension. He quit. Sometimes, you have to have the guts. Values like courage and bravery that lead us directly to the Vikings …

An Extraordinary Spa Experience

Mazuhn August 2, 2015

Today I would like to tell you about an extraordinary Faroese-spa-experience. Nice lighting, pleasant variations of sounds, courteous front office manager. My hands are still soft as a baby’s bottom. This is because I ordered the full-luxury-lanolin-package. You wish to get this treat, too? Become part of a Faroese sheep shearing gang …

What A Rope Is Really Made For

Mazuhn July 31, 2015

Some of you might think they know what ropes are made for. I can hear you saying: A rope is made for mooring a ship in the harbor. Or: I use it to climb up the mountains. Not to mention other possible responses to my question. Well, you are all wrong. A rope is made for fish soup …

Góða Ólavsøku! Time For A National Holiday

Mazuhn July 29, 2015

People from all over the islands gather together in the capital. What is this celebration, that is held for several days, about? It is a feast day, the opening of the parliament, a sports event and a folk festival, including Faroese chain dancing at midnight. The more people you know, the more fun …

Don't Make A Fuss About Weather

Mazuhn July 27, 2015

People are strongly depending on weather conditions. You plan to go for a hike and the weather is fine? Do it now. The washing machine has done it's job and you want your laundry do dry outside? Make sure you use enough clothespins. You are thinking about taking the ferry or the helicopter to Mykines? Don't get made if you end up being stuck there …

How To Survive Wearing A Faroese Sweater

Mazuhn July 27, 2015

What is so special about these sweaters? They keep you warm, and up to a certain point they are even waterproof. Faroese wool contains a great deal of Lanolin. There are many traditional patterns, one more beautiful than the other. Every time you move, the pullover will give your skin a little massage …

Anja Mazuhn, journalist, writer. German philology, political science and theater studies (Freie Universität Berlin). Axel Springer School of Journalism.

Having worked as a journalist for more than 20 years (i.a. DIE WELT), Anja wrote reports, travelogues and did interviews with the celebrities of Hollywood.

Together with her husband, she deeply fell in love with the Faroe Islands, and they bought a house on Eysturoy more than seven years ago – Anja’s second home. Urge to explore. In love with adventures, both on the large and small scale.

Our wool project! Jackets, hoodies …

Jacket.jpeg

Together with some island farmer friends, we have set up a project, the Nordic Wool Factory. Beautiful things made of Faroese sheep’s wool and made for eternity. Jackets, hoodies, blankets, bags and such like.

Faroese sheep’s wool: a precious, renewable, sustainable and natural product, living up to former glory. Check out the German or English version of our Nordic Wool Factory website.

Community, philosophy, resources, design, pictures, sheep, videos, web shop, story. It’s all there. And we ship worldwide.
