Once upon a time … an odd task force got to work. A giant and a witch. Mission: to drag and drop the Faroe Islands close to Iceland. An undertaking that turned out to be far more difficult than expected. Even though the giant and the witch reached the Faroe Islands’ north-westernmost mountain Eiðiskollur, they didn’t manage to put their heavy rope in place.
It’s not just that they acted clumsily. They also didn’t realize that another noose was slowly tightening on them. No man can avoid his destiny. Apparently, the same applies to legendary figures. And so the inevitable happened: At the rising of the sun, the unlucky fellows turned into stone. Ever since then, all sorts of people keep staring at the giant and the witch, mostly from the village of Tjørnuvík and an observation point close to Eiði.
Video: My Faroe Islands proudly presents the giant and the witch as seen from the ocean. Close-up. Only then you get an adequate idea of dimensions. Giant approximately 71, witch 69 and Eiðiskollur 340+ meters. Entirely possible, that the giant and the witch will come down one day, in consequence of some severe winter storm. Up till then, they will be here waiting for you. Legend-reteller-word-of-honor.
