Northern Lights: Dancers in the dark

Mazuhn August 18, 2016

It’s a rare phenomenon. But it does happen, even in the month of August. Beautiful Northern Lights, dancing across Faroese skies, right on our doorstep, in our bay. I have always been fond of the Northern Lights, way before I actually saw them for the very first time – in full strength, way up north in Norway. Now: Northern Lights above the Faroes …

There’s something in the fog …

Mazuhn August 14, 2016

„This is KAB, Antonio Bay. Stevie Wayne here, beaming a signal across the sea. For the men in the Sea Grass, miles out tonight, a warm hello and keep a watch out for that fog bank, heading in from the east.“ There’s something in the fog – at present, too? Maybe, maybe not. Sitting in Kristianshús instead, on Mykines, next to a terrified visitor from Germany …

The mystic bathtubs of Tindhólmur

Mazuhn August 7, 2016

Five peaks. Two summer houses. No inhabitants. Tindhólmur, a private islet west of Vágar. Stamp subject. Postcard picture. Photographed a billion times, mostly from a distance, without ever setting foot on Tindhólmur, rising sheer to several hundred feet on one side, and, like a wicked rollercoaster, plunging down a breathtaking drop-off on the other …

The Magnificent Nine: Swimming, from one island to another

Mazuhn July 11, 2016

Only stopover: Flesjarnar, a group of skerries located between Hvítanes and Toftir. Distance: approximately 4,5 kilometers. Come along …
