Shared Happiness

Mazuhn November 15, 2021

It happened on one of these bright and beautiful November days. There it was again, this feeling. Some call it luck, others speak of fulfillment, inner peace or bliss. Actually, it doesn’t matter which word you use. When I open the front door of our house in the islands and start walking, it only takes me a few minutes to get here. A happy place …

The Temporary Lake

Mazuhn September 27, 2021

A few days ago, I opened our front door and felt it right away. Something had changed. Winter hovered in the air, a different smell, sense of life, state of being. Nights are dark again. A storm embraced shaking streetlights. In front of our living room window, a whirlwind danced down the hillside. Afterwards, I drove to Oyndarfjørður …

Cassiopeia, Greater Bear And Nighttime Pokémon Go

Mazuhn August 31, 2021

Today: Rushing of wind, water, words and thoughts. Sitting at my desk, with my eyes on my notebook keyboard, grassy slopes and high mountains in front of the window. It’s sunny, for the time being. Retrospection: Nights have been star-studded lately, I grasped at the opportunity and tried out my new night sky app …

Summertime Happiness

Mazuhn July 24, 2021

At the moment, the population of our little village by the sea has increased by … I have no idea; feels like 2000 percent, I’d say. Whereas the weather has been dull all around, when it comes to the Faroe Islands, we enjoyed a perfect summer day; and we still do. Lots of visitors. The Faroese love to go camping in their own country …

There Couldn’t Be A Better Place

Mazuhn June 24, 2021

A new day. The last one had never really ended, to be honest. Instead, the light stayed up all night, performing a broad, milky red stripe on the horizon. Stretched out in bed, I listened to the sound of seabirds, before I went to sleep. Fresh coffee in the morning, free-ranging hens in a neighbor’s garden …

The Light Is Finally Back: Our Bay In Mid-May

Mazuhn May 25, 2021

Days have been pretty cold in the windswept Faroe Islands lately - woolen cap weather. What else is happening? A walrus apparently lost its way and was spotted in a sound. And the light is finally back, as time goes by, swallowing more and more pieces of dusk, dawn and nights …

One Panorama Window, Two Kinds Of Weather

Mazuhn April 21, 2021

Framed, like a museum work, and yet reality. One panorama window - our living room view in the islands - staging two kinds of weather. A peculiarly Faroese characteristic, when it comes to meteorological events. Like: Hardly ever cast in stone-conditions, but rather changes in the weather day by day, every hour; sometimes, within minutes …

Anja Mazuhn, journalist, writer. German philology, political science and theater studies (Freie Universität Berlin). Axel Springer School of Journalism.

Having worked as a journalist for more than 20 years (i.a. DIE WELT), Anja wrote reports, travelogues and did interviews with the celebrities of Hollywood.

Together with her husband, she deeply fell in love with the Faroe Islands, and they bought a house on Eysturoy more than seven years ago – Anja’s second home. Urge to explore. In love with adventures, both on the large and small scale.

Our wool project! Jackets, hoodies …

Jacket.jpeg

Together with some island farmer friends, we have set up a project, the Nordic Wool Factory. Beautiful things made of Faroese sheep’s wool and made for eternity. Jackets, hoodies, blankets, bags and such like.

Faroese sheep’s wool: a precious, renewable, sustainable and natural product, living up to former glory. Check out the German or English version of our Nordic Wool Factory website.

Community, philosophy, resources, design, pictures, sheep, videos, web shop, story. It’s all there. And we ship worldwide.
