Cliff Diving In Our Village: Wire Fence With A View

Mazuhn March 17, 2021

Cliff diving in our village Elduvík! On private land, a wire fence with a view. Downwards, our gorge, accessible by small boats only, and in good weather, which means that the sea must be in a cheerful mood. Alternative: Jumping. That actually happened, but don’t try, unless you’re an extreme athlete or stuntman. Watch jumps: Link to video included …

Space History: From Tindhólmur To Mars

Mazuhn February 24, 2021

Five striking peaks. Two summer houses. No inhabitants. Tindhólmur, a private islet west of Vágar. A remote Faroese place that’s making history at present – totally under the radar. Surely you know that NASA’s Perseverance rover landed on Mars a few days ago. A task that is directly connected to Tindhólmur …

At Three In The Afternoon

Mazuhn February 5, 2021

I stood by the ocean, staring into a silvery distance, trying to imagine what it would be like, walking on that one, huge, white cloud. What it would feel like to lie down and tuck myself up in a bed of clouds, at three in the afternoon. Meanwhile, a vortex was visible on the ink-blue surface of the water …

The Call Of The Waves

Mazuhn November 15, 2020

In our village, close to the old school (1887-inscription, waterside, its green corrugated iron roof being visible in the picture’s right upper corner), after I stopped following the muddy, rambling footpath and came to climb downwards that day, weathered rocks beneath my hands, boots and feet …

The Little Red House And The Inner Peaceful Space

Mazuhn October 27, 2020

A little red house on Sandoy. In fact it was more like a shed when I stumbled upon it by pure chance one fine day. Planks, a door, a gable, tar paper and red and white paint at first glance. It was that that I saw, surrounded by a picturesque landscape, close to the sea. And yet it was so much more than that. An embodied inner peaceful space revealed itself …

Tunnel. Portal And Exit And The Part In Between

Mazuhn October 3, 2020

Snapshot in time. Faroe Islands, in the extreme North, Viðoy, close to Viðareiði, before you enter the village. A car that held the road well that day, purring engine, humming from the driver’s seat probably, with the radio on, some afternoon program, a cutting out, radio news, and, simultaneously, a different countdown that was just about to start …
