Around The Block, The My Faroe Islands Way

Mazuhn January 11, 2019

Time off, taking a ride, around the block, which, considering the local conditions, means: no block, but driving from our place along the waters called Funningsfjørður, going past the village Funningur and taking the old mountain road to Gjógv and Eiði, and then back to our place again. Observing, driving, strolling and a confession …

The Rain Gutter Champagne Cooler: Happy New Year!

Mazuhn December 31, 2018

Rain gutter, front row: The My Faroe Islands way to get the champagne ready for tonight. Whereas I must confess that I took the bottle down again soon after. Another stormy day, me being lucky to catch the right moment, just before the weather rollercoaster picked up speed again. Fireworks? Not sure if we will be able to do a decent job tonight …

Gleðilig Jól! Merry Christmas! May Your Heart Be Light

Mazuhn December 22, 2018

After the storm. Heavy rain, gusts of wind dashing against house walls, sea spray speeding across the surface of the water – passing into oblivion. Days flew past, Christmas cards arriving, Advent decoration, candle arches and tea lights in windows. King of holiday lights and everybody’s darling: our village Christmas tree …

No Cars, No Dress Code, No Meetings

Mazuhn November 21, 2018

Sometimes, it’s just about being alone. In the open countryside, in close communion with nature. Our valley. No cars, no dress code, no meetings. Instead: the vast heavens and the evermore whispering sound of winds, creating a universal feeling of togetherness, even though no one is around …

The Place Where Lake and Ocean Meet

Mazuhn November 7, 2018

Taking a walk, to a place where lake and ocean meet, alongside the largest lake of the Faroe Islands, called Leitisvatn or Sørvágsvatn. Size 3.4 square kilometers, located on the island Vágar. It makes sense, since it’s not a smart idea to go hiking in the mountains at this time of year – the hare hunting season takes place …

The Haunting of Boat House

Mazuhn October 27, 2018

This time round, it’s exactly two events that motivated me to come up with the following blog entry. First: I finished watching Netflix’ gothic horror series „The Haunting of Hill House“. Second: calendar date, suggesting that many people around the globe are currently preparing for next week’s Halloween …

Our wool project! Jackets, hoodies …

Jacket.jpeg

Together with some island farmer friends, we have set up a project, the Nordic Wool Factory. Beautiful things made of Faroese sheep’s wool and made for eternity. Jackets, hoodies, blankets, bags and such like.

Faroese sheep’s wool: a precious, renewable, sustainable and natural product, living up to former glory. Check out the German or English version of our Nordic Wool Factory website.

Community, philosophy, resources, design, pictures, sheep, videos, web shop, story. It’s all there. And we ship worldwide.
