Catching the North Pole Train from Viðareiði

Mazuhn September 23, 2017

An intense moment of happiness in Viðareiði. Standing on the northernmost island Viðoy, frolicking around the waterside with a friend, watching the waves come in, Svínoy and Fugloy within sight. Bright day, sunshine illuminating kelly-green algae, seawater-filled puddles and weirdly shaped rocks. On top of the world. Faroes. So much in love, still …

The Late Light Show

Mazuhn August 24, 2017

Summer’s almost over, nights are dark again. Time to monitor skies in the evenings, since I don’t want to miss one single Late Light Show. In the course of this week, I was lucky enough to catch some Northern Lights flickering above our bay. Shortly after, I captured another scene …

Weekend Review: The Spirit Of Ólavsøka

Mazuhn July 30, 2017

National holiday, two-day celebration of Ólavsøka, weekend review. Back from Tórshavn, late coffee on a quiet Sunday in our village, recalling this year’s Ólavsøka favorites. Like: Sitting at the meeting place Trappan í Vágsbotni close to the harbor with the fall of darkness, area packed with people, meanwhile someone behind me spills his drink …

The Hidden Rose Garden Of The North Atlantic

Mazuhn July 6, 2017

Sails set, 7 knots, on our way from the Faroe Islands to Iceland. Standing in the cockpit with a smile on my face, rechecking the chart that’s shown on a display. No kidding. „Rosengarten“, it says. German for rose garden. What a name for a piece of the North Atlantic. Sailing from the Faroe Islands to Iceland …

Lambs! Welcome to our Racetrack and Kindergarten

Mazuhn May 16, 2017

A racetrack has been set up close to a friend’s house. First I scanned it with my binoculars (kitchen window), then I went over, in order to take a closer look at the starting field. Hilarious. A gang of lambs on a dead-end village road, speeding and galloping back and forth, next to a lamb kindergarten. Want to see them running? Video link included …

Shadow Theater: A Silky Feeling Of Summer

Mazuhn May 6, 2017

Light is back on the islands. Like: Looking out of the window at 22:50 p.m. and watching a glowing sky, freckle-faced and pretty in orange and pink, above the silhouette of a quiet and deserted road on one side, some houses on the other. A silky feeling of summer has wrapped our village and the neighboring mountains, hills and waters …

Our wool project! Jackets, hoodies …

Jacket.jpeg

Together with some island farmer friends, we have set up a project, the Nordic Wool Factory. Beautiful things made of Faroese sheep’s wool and made for eternity. Jackets, hoodies, blankets, bags and such like.

Faroese sheep’s wool: a precious, renewable, sustainable and natural product, living up to former glory. Check out the German or English version of our Nordic Wool Factory website.

Community, philosophy, resources, design, pictures, sheep, videos, web shop, story. It’s all there. And we ship worldwide.
